The CALI Library in a nutshell
The CALI Library of Lessons is a collection of over 600 interactive,
computer-based lessons covering 32 legal education subject areas. The
lessons are designed to augment traditional law school instruction and
can be assigned as supplemental study material or integrated with other
course materials. The descriptions contained in the catalog provide
information about the specific legal issues presented in each exercise
and offer suggestions for effective use.
The lessons are written by law faculty and librarians and are regularly reviewed and revised. The format of the individual lessons varies according to the educational objectives of the author. Some authors use the setting of a simulated trial to provide students with an opportunity to test their understanding of an area of law. Other lessons drill students through a series of questions requiring them to identify relevant issues and apply recently learned concepts.
Faculty members may review a listing of the questions and answers of the lessons or select lesson links to add to their own web pages from the faculty section.
To get started, you must first register with a membership authorization code. You can get the code from the CALI Password Administrator at your school listed here. Then either select the subject area you are interested in or search for a lesson above.

Required Offline Reading for Several Lessons
Certain exercises in the CALI Catalog refer to the Roger C. Park and Douglas D. McFarland book Computer-Aided Exercises on Civil Procedure (4th ed. 1995) (West Publishing Co.) and the Robert E. Keeton book Computer-Aided and Workbook Exercises on Insurance Law. CALI sent a copy of the books to CALI member schools when West first published the books. To find the books, look in the computer lab at your school where students can do the CALI exercises. If you can't find the books there, look in your Law School library or bookstore. Your school can also buy additional copies from West Publishing Co.
